Character name: Hyacinthus
Fandom: Greek Mythology
Timeline: Ancient Greece
Age: Seventeen (canonically, he shouldn't be any older than this as he was killed in his youth)
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: He's Spartan. His strengths lie in the way of the sword and bow and arrow; he's a natural born fighter. As a prince, he was raised to be a leader. Being not only the lover of Apollo, Hyacinthus was his student as well, and other than sport and the arts, Apollo taught him divination. While he's not as accurate at foreseeing the future as Apollo is, Hyacinthus could possibly see future events if he chose to do so. Accuracy, however, is questionable.
How would they use their abilities?: While he's skilled in fighting and hunting, Hyacinthus tends to be a little more peaceful, and would only use those skills if it were really necessary. Same with his leadership skills; while Hyacinthus was raised to rule Sparta, but won't show those leadership skills unless he's put under that role. With his divination, he wouldn't do anything with it unless specifically asked for it.
Appearance: Dark brown hair, and light eyes. Slightly tanned; being Greek, he obviously looks like one. He has a bit of a muscular build, as he played a lot of sports when he was alive. In Mythology, he's said to be very beautiful.
Background/Personality:
Hyacinthus was the prince of the once proud nation of (now) Ancient Sparta, and was a youth who was skilled in both the arts and in sport. Being as beautiful as he was, and being the son of one of the Muses, Clio, he was well known among the gods of Olympus, more specifically, Apollo. Apollo had become infatuated with the prince very early on in Hyacinthus' childhood, and quickly took him in as his pupil. Apollo taught him everything he could, from the way of the bow and arrow, to other sports, to music (Apollo taught him to play the lyre), arts (like sculpture and poetry), to even divination. And, of course, Hyacinthus took this as a blessing to be taught these things from a god, and strove to be the best pupil he could be, eager and excited to learn anything and everything from Apollo. While being around Apollo and being taught by him was a humbling experience, his upbringing as a prince (along with both his brother Rhagus and his sister Polyboea) had made him just a little too confident. It's not to say that he was cocky; that was very much the opposite. But with his royal blood and attention from a god, it's almost enough to inflate anyone's ego.
But his growing confidence didn't stop Apollo from loving him, and soon, the god would spend time with Hyacinthus even outside of their lessons. Hyacinthus never complained; he was more than happy to be in the company of Apollo. He quickly became infatuated with him as well, and rarely wanted to leave his side. During that time, however, another deity, the West Wind, Zephyrus, had his attention caught by the prince as well. He soon started seeing Hyacinthus as well, growing more attached to the youth because of his enigmatic personality. He was a caring boy, and seemed truly happy to see him whenever he would visit. Of course, this caused a bit of a triangle between the three of them. But Hyacinthus soon chose Apollo over Zephyrus, much to the Wind's dismay and jealousy. Unfortunately for the both of them, they didn't know the full extent of Zephyrus' jealousy until it was too late.
One day, both Apollo and Hyacinthus decided to throw discus together, not knowing that Zephyrus was watching. Apollo had wanted to impress Hyacinthus and threw his discus far and high; Hyacinthus, over-confident in himself, wanted to impress his god by catching it. That's when Zephyrus thought it was the best opportunity to strike. He blew the discus off course, and towards Hyacinthus. Hyacinthus, who hadn't expected the discus to be blown his way, gets hit on the head with it as he was running, taking a deadly blow and dying almost instantly. He was then turned into a hyacinth flower from his blood by a grieving Apollo, as he didn't want Hades to claim his soul. Since then, Hyacinthus' soul had lived on in the buds of the hyacinth flower.
Personality:
Despite Hyacinthus' upbringing, he tends to be more of a humble person. While he does have a rather outstanding confidence in himself, sometimes, he feels like he isn't as perfect as he can be, especially when he's around Apollo, which causes slight insecurity, but he tends to get over that rather quickly with reassurance. As a prince, he's far from being pompous; he doesn't think higher of himself than anyone else just because he's royalty. Hyacinthus tends to be as sweet as sugar and very understanding when talking to people. He's rather charming as well, in that sweet, adorable way (he has to be, if he got a Greek god and a Wind fighting for his love). However, despite being sweet, when he doesn't like someone or something, he is a little sassy (but it always did amuse his siblings). He doesn't like beating around the bush when talking; he's very straight to the point. He doesn't get very angry very easily (surprisingly, for a Spartan), and tends to want to use his words rather than his fists to resolve issues.

1st person sample:
[hello S.S. Thor! anyone stumbling upon this feed will see nothing on the screen but what looks to be flesh, and hear nothing but mumblings too quiet to hear unless one was to strain to hear it. it's a few moments before it seems like the guide's pulled away a little, only for a grey eye to come into view.]
What in the world...
[the Guide is pulled away a little more, now revealing a confused (but still rather attractive) boy, not looking an age over seventeen at most, staring at the Guide like it's something from another planet. well, technically, it is. but anyone in this century shouldn't look this confused at something resembling modern day electronics.]
Why would I be given something that I don't even know how to use? What is this thing?
[Hyacinthus (the boy's name... not that... anyone would know...) gives the device another look, before the screen looks like it's being shaken. if the viewer had stayed long enough to watch this feed, they'd notice that the boy is very much shirtless when he shakes the Guide, before the feed suddenly cuts out. whoops, looks like he accidentally pressed something.]
3rd person sample:
After the unfortunate and undignified moment of being yelled at for covering himself up and not to walk around nude, Hyacinthus stood in what seemed like the middle of nowhere with a towel wrapped around his waist. He held, in his hand, the Guide, which he hadn't opened to look at it since he received it. He wasn't sure what it was or why it was given to him, but he didn't want to look at it and find out. It looked strange to him, and rather dangerous looking (despite the words "Don't Panic" on the back of it). What he wanted to know was, however, why was he yelled at for being nude (it wasn't like nudity wasn't a norm in Sparta. Or all of Greece, for that matter), and instead of being thrown a long piece of fabric that wasn't linen or wool and too short to be made into a makeshift… well, anything, someone could have offered a chiton. Heck, Hyacinthus would have even settled for an exomis! He didn't appreciate being scolded for not wearing any clothing. While he doesn't usually like playing the card, he's a prince! He should at least have some sort of respect around here.
Other things Hyacinthus didn't enjoy was having a gross, slimy fish shoved into his ear. What was it called… a babelfish? Whatever it was, it was gross, and unfortunately for Hyacinthus, no amount of digging in his ear will get it out. Gross. Just thinking about it puts a frown on his face as he looks at the coordinates that he was given. Maybe he should go find this… Maybe he'd run into anyone he knew? Hyacinthus highly doubted that, though.
